What Can You Eat To Get Glowing Skin

food to get glowing skin
Over the years we always been told, you are what you eat.  Whatever you put down your stomach becomes a part of your body and it will reflect through the outer part which is your skin.  The more nutritious the food, the better your skin will look.   Its very important to watch what you eat because the skin is the canvas of the body.  What can you eat to get glowing skin?.

Keep yourself hydrated

First and foremost,  its water.  While water is no way categorized as food, it plays an important role to keep your body hydrated. Our body is made up of 75 percent of water and dehydration will make your skin to look tired, dry and dull.  Drink at least 6-8 glass of water daily and avoid drinking too much caffeinated and alcoholic drinks as it will make your skin to age faster.

Incorporate nutritious food into your diet

food to get glowing skinNutritious diet must consist a balance of proteins, carbohydrates, fiber, vegetables, fruits, minerals and fat to get a glowing skin. You cannot get the result overnight but the efforts will pay off in the long run.

From the food pyramid, too much consumption on fat and sugar will not only lead to health problems but skin issues such as dry skin, acne, zits, wrinkles and dark circles.

  • Vitamin C for Antioxidant
In order for your skin to glow, eat the food that is high in Vitamin C content.  Apart from boosting your immune system, Vitamin C also helps to produce collagen that is beneficial for the skin. Source of vitamin C can be found in fruits such as kiwi, oranges, papaya, blackcurrants, etc.

  • Chia Seeds for Omega-3
I have been hearing about Chia Seeds a lot lately, thanks to Instagram and Facebook, of course!.  It is said to be the richest sources of Omega-3 fatty acids which helps in skin cell function and collagen production.  No wonder chia seeds are widely consumed as smoothie ingredient or taken with the oatmeal taken during breakfast.

  •  Yogurt for Protein
Greek Yogurt is known to be a good source of protein. It is also considered as a holy grail ingredients for face mask.  Your skin complexion will become smoother and if you apply the yogurt to your face, it can helps to soothe irritated or sensitive skin.  You can also delay wrinkles from appearing with regular consumption of yogurt to your diet.

  • Almond for Vitamin E
Good option for snacking, Almond is known to be a good source for vitamin E. Vitamin E can assist in nourishing the skin and protecting it from the UV rays that can be harmful to the skin.  If you are not a fan of almond chunks, opt for Almond milk instead.  Its equally yummy and beneficial to your skin.  Another source for Vitamin E is sunflower seeds.

  • Pomegranates for Polyphenol Antioxidants
Not only having such an attractive color, pomegranate also rich in Polyphenol.  What Polyphenol does to our body?  It helps combat free radicals and regulate the skin blood flow. Fresh pomegranate juices taken at least once or twice a week will help to do the trick for a glowing skin.

Get the Skin to Glow Naturally

Of course, you can always opt for a cosmetic procedures or supplements to get the glowing skin that you wanted and everyone is entitled for their own opinions on that matter.  For me, I always prefer to go for a natural approach by consuming a good diet and exercise once in a while to keep my body healthy.  It is also our duty to protect our skin from using or applying substance that contains chemicals.  Getting enough rest, rejuvenate and relax is also another contributing factor to maintain the healthy glow of your skin.

  14. Thanks for sharing this!
I'm a healthy lifestyle promoter and I can totally agree with everything you've written. To achieve that glowing skin, you have to drink enough water, eat foods, full of nutrients and I also suggest to not use a lot of make-up and other things on your face, because some can damage your skin even more. :)
